PARTITION SYSTEM
FT Architects' / 4 Columns House
Masato Sekiya / Mono Struct House
I used these precedents to examine how I might create adjustable classrooms within the different spaces of my building. I used these as an example of how partition walls could be insterted in between the columns. Additonally thinking about how the wooden posts are bolted together and how it might support my horizontal panels
Exploring how the partition system works to create different working spaces for the students to use - Ideas space creates possiblities for formal and informal meetings/discussions - as well as private or group study spaces. My challenge for this space was to make it possible for the partitions to more moveable less permanent/easier to arrange spaces - compared to those in the project space. I decided on a moveable partitions walls that can be extended along the wooden beam to create a dynamic working environment (smaller or large study spaces).

1. Detail highlights the sliding partition doors that move along the wooden beam to divide the spaces in the 'ideas space'. I shortened the central beam to allow room for the aluminum rail to ensure the partition walls reach from floor to beam - to allow for maximum sound proofing between spaces.
