INITIAL DESIGN PROPSAL
Bonsall Street
Free School
Archive/Bookstore
My first design proposal split across two sites. An archive that would collect infomation from the people around Hulme and be an archive knowledge that people from the free school would be able to refer to. The archive I felt was important to the anarchist free school as it would provide a place for the students to learn about their history, and furthermore strenghten the bonds the co-localities and the school.
The Anarchist Free School on the south end of the site with links to the Archive will provide and place for students learn in a dynamic environment.
However what emerged from doing this massing model, was the size of the actual building stretched across the sites. Moving forward I plan to reduce the program and building to just one site. I feel as this will strengthen the building and allow for a stronger program focusing more on the Anarchist Free School. Then including an archive and cafe as an addition to the school.

Grid across site is based on half size of an average classroom. The idea is to create at its smallest intimate classtoom sizes for a more engaing and inclusive learning.
